Redevelopment pushed through.
Mood:  sad
Now Playing: Time marches on...
Topic: Redevelopment
  • This is a $24.7 million boondoggle pulled off by Dan Holler.  It will cost every man, woman and child $500.00.  Have 5 in your family, that's $2,500.00.  Commissioners have abdicated thier fudiciary responsibility to Dan Holler who is not the friend of the average citizen.

Master Plan Gutted.
Mood:  sad
Now Playing: The dark side is growing.
Topic: 2006 master plan cycle

The December 12th meeting was a disaster as the county commissioners allowed most of the changes to go in that weeken the 1996 master plan. Dave Brady was one of the only commissioners who voted against it. Doug Johnson, Baushke and Smith pushed it through.

Now what?
Mood:  quizzical
Now Playing: Where to from here?
Topic: 2006 master plan cycle

I want to encourage everyone who can to attend the Planning Commission meeting at the old court house in Minden on December 12, 2006.

This may be the last chance to voice your opinion about the document (2006 10 year Master Plan update) or the process.  It is our Master Plan now, will it be after this update?  We have posted the latest updates for you at www.gggdc.com so you can read what the current draft looks like.

How many houses have been approved this year?
Mood:  incredulous
Now Playing: The County Commissioners are on a rampage...
Topic: Water resource
This year more then 2000 homes have been approved by the county Commissioners. With an average of 3.8 people per house, that is another 7,600 thirsty throats, and of course 2000 yards to water.

The Commissioners are ignoring the water issue. The only study they have says after 38,000 residence we will draw down our water supply. We are approaching that population today.

Why are these issues being ignored? Jim Slade has been asking this at every meeting of the Planning Commission and the County Commissioners. His question continues to fall of deaf ears.
